What this tool tells you

What it does

Use this before a recording, call or stream to make sure your input chain is clean and set to a sensible gain.

How to use it

Start diagnostics, stay silent for a few seconds, then speak or play at your loudest. Each check turns green, amber or red with a short explanation.

How to interpret it

Noise floor and SNR depend on the room as well as the hardware. The sample rate is what the browser runs at, which may differ from your interface setting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my noise floor look high?
Room noise, preamp gain and cheap USB mics all raise it. Turn off fans, lower the gain, or move closer to the source.
What causes DC offset?
A faulty or poorly designed input stage. Small values are harmless; large values reduce headroom and can cause clicks.
What is a dropout?
A short burst of pure digital silence within a signal, usually caused by USB, Bluetooth or CPU load problems.
