Soundstage & Imaging Test

Test headphone soundstage with panning sweeps, center image, width tests, and HRTF 3D positioning.

What this tool tells you

What it does

Use this soundstage and imaging test to explore perceived left/right movement, center placement, stereo width, and browser HRTF positioning with locally generated tones and decorrelated pink noise.

How to use it

Use stereo headphones at a comfortable volume. Play the panning sweep and listen for smooth movement, check the mono center tone, then compare the pink-noise width test and selectable HRTF positions. Stop playback before switching tests.

How to interpret it

This is a listening and test-signal tool, not an objective universal headphone soundstage score. Perceived space depends on the headphones or speakers, listener, HRTF, recording or test signal, and playback chain. The browser HRTF is not personalized, so its positions may not match your perception.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is soundstage?
Soundstage is the perceived spatial presentation of audio — how wide, deep, and three-dimensional the sound field appears. Open-back headphones typically have wider soundstage than closed-back.
